I have read a lot of articles related to this issue recently and what I have concluded is that yes, it is. There is a big HOWEVER though; this big however stems from what kind of sex you have – and how long it lasts! So there are many factors that are involved.
If you are looking to burn 100-200 calories per half hour, this is what you’ll have to do:
- See if you can become a porn star. Ok, I’m not serious about that, but what I am serious about is that you need to have sex vigorously. So when you get in the sack, put in the work.
- To put in the work, you might as well get on top. The top has the most vigorous workouts established to make you sweat (missionary, doggy style, cowgirl). Most the time if you are on bottom, you are not the one doing the majority of the work; thus, you're not getting your workout in.
- Put in 30 minutes – and that doesn’t count foreplay. For guys, this is where it can be tough. Yeah, guys like to brag about their endurance levels, but I think women can attest to how long their “endurance” really is. For the women: are you able to put your porn star face on and go for half an hour straight, doing all the dirty work?
- To make it an effective workout, repeat this exercise at least three times a week.
However, after doing the baby-making event, consider the following positives from releasing the endorphin hormones.
Endorphins can help you:
- Control the craving for chocolate and potentially addictive substances
- Control feelings of stress and frustration
- Reduce symptoms associated with eating disorders.
So although sex may not be the most efficient way to burn calories, its upsides lead to healthy living. Fruits and vegetables sound more appealing, help stress levels which reduces heart disease and depression, and the desire to eat uncontrollably isn't as extreme.
What are you waiting for? Put the lights down low and play something soft and slow. Do something good for your body -- and for someone else.
