Run Forrest, Run!

It doesn’t matter whether you are a 50-time marathon runner or someone who hasn’t set foot in a running shoe. Nor does it matter if you have a spare tire attached to your waist or not, if you’re healthy or not healthy, or lazy or active – this blog is for you to get and stay motivated, learn how to tackle the issues like hitting the runner’s wall and food selection (food portion and dietary solutions), but most of all, to just run and enjoy it!

We all remember the movie “Forrest Gump” where Forrest always to risks and sought adventure.  He fought in Vietnam (not recommended), owned a shrimp company, became a ping-pong champion, but what stuck out in my mind most notably was him running from coast-to-coast all because he “felt like running.” First thing that comes to my mind is, “What!? Are you cray!?” and then I have to pull myself out of the television screen and realize this is just fictional. But just because it is fictional, why can’t we just...run? We are so caught up in the complacency of life never to challenge ourselves and – live. Let’s cliché the cliché and “take life by the horns.”

And people have done this.  They have found a purpose, took a challenge -- and changed their lives.  With this journey you take, you will meet some of these people.

I challenge everyone who reads this to just start running.  Run for your health, for someone else, for stress relief, for happiness, to enjoy life, or for yourself.

My hope is that you sign up for the 2011 NATIONWIDE INSURANCE COLUMBUS MARATHON.  Okay, don’t let the word “marathon” scare you off.  I myself am training for the half marathon (yes, you can run a half marathon too).  The link to sign up is on the right side of my homepage along with a countdown to the marathon itself.  If you are not a Columbusite, stay connected to this site so we as a community can help you take a challenge that is daring!

My pledge to everyone that follows me is to update my blog constantly with informative, motivational, and entertaining posts including parodies, videos, and interactive polls and gifts.

Be ready to visit on Friday because there will be a prize and incentive for people to follow.  I just hope the winner lives in America because if not – I will have to pony up the money for shipping & handling!

Make sure to join this site to be eligible for the prize!

Surgery done! I am actually going to write a short article chronicling the event because I've had so many people ask me what it was like. It won't be running related, but I'll still tie it in somehow.

*** On a side note, I am not supposed to be on the computer during the first 24 hours or so; I can't wait until I can really stare into this screen I have in front of me so I can write.

I appreciate your comment about running for a goal, whether it be yourself, someone else, health, etc. I can remember watching people run and thinking, "Nah, that's not for me". I was already disqualifying myself before I ever tried it! Well, I finally tried it! Daniel and I ran for what seemed like forever, we were gasping and sweating and were mortified when we looked and it had only been ten minutes, but we kept up with it and are running 4 miles. We are still in the very beginning stages but I am so proud of us, and excited to learn that running is for me!

I am really proud of both of you Daniel and Annie. When Sandrine was telling me about how you guys ran 4, 5, or even 6 miles, I was astonish. You guys really took the bull by the horns and you guys are still holding on.

Proud of you both! Hopefully you'll enjoy what I publish for you guys!

I love the concept of this site! I really love running but I lack the motivation for it and I always fail to make time for it. I'm not sure if I'll be able to run in the marathon, but using this site will be a good start to becoming a better and more frequent runner. Thanks a lot!

Thanks Levi. First off, I must say I love your avatar!

I have a three part segment coming up dedicated to finding inspiration. These videos -- even though I am not directly affected by the certain problem -- push me to strive for being healthy.

Also -- think about just doing the half. I know it seems like a big order, but it is possible. Dream what you think the impossible is, and do it.!
