Hats and Shoes Giveaway!

I want to first off thank all of you who have supported this idea.  I have been really encouraged by all of you that have participated and actively took the challenge to change your life -- and try to change others.  I also would like to give a shout out to Levi Moore who has been taken this idea and decided to change his lifestyle to be healthy and active.  Way to go on running your first half marathon!

Nonetheless, here is the last video.  Congrats to the winners!

(I don't think I mentioned this on video -- and I apologize for the quick production -- but the first two winners won the hats, and the last, the shoes)

If you are a winner, please email me your address and I will mail it as soon as I can :-)

(NRR) 2010:  A Jetta Odyssey

This is a bit lengthy, but I am sure you will enjoy it.

The Collision

Congestion on a highway is no fun.  Congestion after a long day at the office -- annoying.  But what makes an annoying day turn into a wretched day are the drivers who throw caution to the wind.  Let me explain.

Shoes & Hats Giveaway!

The time has come to give away the last few remaining items for Run4Purpose.  To qualify for this week's prizes, you must make a comment below stating a goal, a promise, or a vow (to yourself or for another person) that is related to some sort of healthy lifestyle.  It can be to run a marathon, to lose 30 lbs., start a running club, encourage someone to live healthy, or even change your overall diet.  Make a change, live your life, and live for a purpose.

Good luck all!

Sorry about the backwards pictures.  Didn't have a camera on me at the moment and the computer flips the picture.  Enjoy trying to read it!  ;-)

The drawing will be Friday, October 28th so make sure to add your comment on what goal you would like to achieve or how you can help influence other people to live a healthy and purposeful life.

"You can't build a reputation on what you are going to do."

A quote by Henry Ford has been slithering around in my head ever since I saw it written on a white board in another teacher's room.  Of course no one really pays attention to the "quote of the day" nor do teachers really dive into the meaning or purpose of it, but for that brief instant when I glanced around a math room, I couldn't get the quote out of my head:  "you can't build a reputation on what you are going to do."

Of course this semi-aphorism was being directed to the younger generations, but it was trapped in MY conscious for the rest of the day.  Why do people talk about lofty goals but never attempt to even try to reach it?  How do we overcome the habitual complacency we get stuck in?

I then applied it to running.

My goal is to encourage, inspire and inform all people on living a healthier and active lifestyle.  But I, and we, can't just say what we are going to do but not live up to it.  Talk to friends.  Talk to family.  Hell, talk to a stranger.  Make an impact in someone's life.  We can fight diabetes, heart disease, depression, and even suicide.  Give someone a purpose and give it through activity.  Be proactive -- don't just say it.

Thank you to all that have followed this blog the past two months.  Your support has encouraged me a long ways and I have you supporters to thank.  The time you have spent believing in this cause of living purposefully I hope has shaped your life in someway.  I do regretfully say that I will be shutting the blog down -- temporarily.  Life and its duties have caught up with me to steal me away from my lofty ambitions I had for this idea.  I will be closing up shop at the end of October and hopefully rejuvenating it in early spring of 2012; however, I still have plenty planned for the rest of the week -- so don't give up me yet!

Coming Saturday are the hats and shoes giveaways.  I haven't decided how I will assess the winners yet, but I feel they are the best prizes yet to be had.

"You can't build a reputation on what you are going to do."

Juicing Journey Day 2 -- Eveningish time

I want to personally thank everyone that showed up on Saturday morning for the first ever R4P run.  It was great seeing some new and old faces.  If you missed out, we will be doing another run in the beginning of November.

On our second day of the Juicing Journey, we make quite possibly the most delicious juice.  What's inside this creation?  Watch and learn :-)

Again -- this is just raw footage we made w/o much editing.

Coming up -- the final giveaways!

Juice Journey: Day one, Afternoon one

This has been a long time coming.  It is just raw footage of the first day of us juicing; however, this time we show you how to make it!

Don't forget -- the first r4p run is coming up tomorrow, October 8th at 10am down at Antrim Park.  We are meeting on the deck and will be running a 5kish.  Hope to see you there!

Misuno water bottle winner!

Run4Purpose wants to give major props to Ray for sharing his hilarious stories that are related to running.  It is amazing the stupid yet funny things that happen in our lives that just make us laugh.

However, we must give the award to Tammy for her bonehead move of wearing two different pairs of shoes -- and resulting in a great run!

Here is her story:

A few weeks ago I was doing a 12 mile training run. It was the best run I'd had in a really long time.
As I was stretching I looked down and realized that in my rush to leave the house at 4:30am I had put on shoes from different pairs. I'm still wondering if that's why I had such a good run.

Don't forget that Run4Purpose is meeting up at Antrim Park in Columbus Ohio at 10am on the deck.  Come out and run for health and life with us.  It will be a 5k.

I will also be posting more on the Juice Journey and the last of the giveaways soon(ish).

Run4Purpose Run

This coming Saturday, October 8th, at 10.00 a.m., We are officially having a Run4Purpose run to get healthy and to stay active.  We will be meeting on the deck of Antrim Park and running a 5kish.  Depending on the amount of people show up, we might run in time groups so no one gets left behind.

Also, the drawing for the Misuno water bottle will take place early this week -- and then the final giveaway will be taking place.  1st place will get a free pair of running shoes, and the two runner ups will get a nice, breathing-laced running cap (I know, not the best time of the year at the moment for those).
